The movement of a 470-tonne transformer being escorted along the A14 has been captured in a series of aerial photographs. The movement of a 470-tonne transformer being escorted along the A14 has been captured in a series of aerial photographs.

OBD Photography captured the photos from a bridge over the major road.

A rolling road block was in place while the convoy travelled to junction 56 at Wherstead and then onto junction 55 at Copdock Interchange.

Before the first abnormal load, a National Highways spokesman said:  “Due to the complexity of moving equipment of this size, there will be disruption on the A14.

“To ensure there are no hold-ups, there will be some activities carried out ahead of the convoy, which includes the removal of carriageway signage.”

Later this week Suffolk police will be escorting an abnormal load from Stratford upon Avon to Sizewell.

It will be moved at 9am on Tuesday, July 16 and will affect major roads including the A11 and A12.
