Major new £4.27m business hub in Lowestoft nears completion

Work on a new £4.27 million state-of-the-art business hub is just weeks away from completion.

With significant progress continuing to be made at the site of The Nexus in Lowestoft, the development is set for completion next month.

It comes as lots of interest has been expressed in the new business hub site, which has transformed vacant land.

Viewings and tours of the site have been held over recent weeks as companies express major interest.

Demolition work started in November last year as disused industrial buildings were knocked down at the former industrial site on Newcombe Road in Lowestoft, which had been vacant for around three years.

With construction starting on the creation of a state-of-the-art business hub – that is hoped will drive economic growth in the town – at the end of January, it has seen 16 purpose-built contemporary business units of varying sizes progressed.

The development is set to provide modern premises for local companies and attract businesses to Lowestoft, with the units – ranging between 35sq m and 225sq m – created as part of the town’s PowerPark.

As the £4.27million development is being delivered by East Suffolk Council, a council spokesman said: “The Nexus is the first significant project by the council to revitalise this area and aims to drive economic growth as well as providing new employment opportunities.”

The council, supported by Allman Woodcock Ltd, has worked closely with teams from SEH French – who are constructing the site – and Concertus Design & Property Consultants Limited, who designed it, to realise its vision.

East Suffolk Council leader Caroline Topping said: “With East Suffolk’s PowerPark and The Nexus development – we are less than four weeks off the buildings actually being completed and fitted out.

“We’ve already got green energy companies that have contacted us that are interested in taking those spaces.”
