Haizea Wind Group has manufactured the first monopile foundation for Iberdrola’s East Anglia Three offshore wind project at its facility in Bilbao, Spain.
Haizea Bilbao will deliver 50 monopiles for the 1.4 GW East Anglia Three offshore wind farm under a contract with ScottishPower Renewables, Iberdrola’s UK arm, signed in March 2023.
Under the contract, Haizea Bilbao will be responsible for the supply of materials, engineering of the manufacturing process, and manufacturing of the monopiles.
The Navantia-Windar consortium will produce 45 monopiles for the 95-turbine offshore wind farm under a separate contract. The foundations are planned to be installed by Seaway7.
Iberdrola was awarded a Contract for Difference for the 1.4 GW offshore wind farm in July 2022.
East Anglia Three, located 69 kilometres off the coast of Suffolk in England, will comprise 95 Siemens Gamesa 14+ MW wind turbines. The wind farm has already started onshore construction and the production of offshore wind turbine components, and is expected to be operational in 2026.
The project is part of Iberdrola’s GBP 6.5 billion (around EUR 7.7 billion) East Anglia Hub which includes two other offshore wind farms: the 800 MW East Anglia One North and the 900 MW East Anglia Two.
